Cockpit intelligence redefined with the G3000 Prime avionics
Step into the TBM 980’s next generation cockpit. With its Garmin G3000® PRIME avionics, every flight becomes more intuitive, smoother and safer. An unprecedented piloting experience is provided by the three edge-to-edge 14-inch touchscreens, as well as an enhanced interface and streamlined controls. And by centralizing the data entry process, the G3000 PRIME avionics take flight deck management to an entirely new level.
The flight deck built for the way that pilots want to fly
AUTOMATIC DE-ICING SYSTEM
The automatic de-icing system features a preventive and redundant icing condition detection solution for ultimate protection. With this advisory automatic ice protection systems, the pilot is assisted in detecting icing conditions or accumulation.
SURFACE WATCH
Surface Watch™ provides aural and visual alerts to help the pilot maintain enhanced situational awareness in the airport environment – including the avoidance of potential risks from wrong runway use.
ELECTRONIC STANDBY INSTRUMENT
The first solid-state integrated standby system specifically created for General Aviation aircraft and helicopters that provides dependable backup for attitude, airspeed, slip/skid and optional heading information.
SMART GAUGES
The TBM 980’s flight deck multi-function display features engine smart gauges that offer a zoom-in on the First Limit Indicator mode, as well as an indication of the engine phase.
GWX™ 8000
Advanced surveillance features of the 16-color advanced Doppler weather radar include lightning and hail prediction, turbulence detection, zero blind range for close-in returns, and ground clutter suppression.
BARO V NAV
The Baro-VNAV system allows precision approaches to be flown with vertical guidance (LNAV+V) at airports where Space-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) or Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) are not available. The vertical guidance is provided by barometric altitude information from the aircraft. The specified vertical path typically is computed between two waypoints, or an angle from a single way point.
VISUAL APPROACH
This feature provides assistance for visual approaches to non-controlled airports based on terrain and the classic 3-degree vertical path. It uses altimeter information from the aircraft’s pitot-static system and the air data computer to provide advisory vertical guidance while taking terrain and obstacle clearance into account. The procedure is designed to help pilots fly a stabilized approach. The visual approach can be activated when the aircraft is within five miles of the airport.
HOMESAFE™
The emergency system that automatically brings the airplane to a runway touchdown if the pilot becomes incapacitated.
E-THROTTLE
The power lever is now an e-throttle, using a single forward position from takeoff to landing.
STREAMLINED FOR CLARITY
The dashboard has been simplified by integrating functions that were once controlled by physical buttons directly into the software interface. This modernized approach reduces clutter and creates a cleaner, more intuitive environment for the pilot. By removing unnecessary distractions, the redesigned layout helps pilots maintain better focus and situational awareness throughout every phase of flight.
DESIGNED FOR ERGONOMICS
Now with a fully touch‑controlled interface, Daher’s engineering team developed ergonomic hand supports to enhance comfort and stability—even in turbulent conditions. These supports run along the entire length of the screen, both above and below it, allowing the pilot to rest their hand securely while interacting with the touchscreen.
Engineered for performance, tuned to the pilot
The TBM 980 introduces a new generation of cockpit interaction. With smart, connected features, every phase of flight becomes smoother, more intuitive and more controlled.
Alert-linked checklists
The G3000® PRIME avionics automatically links each alert to its dedicated checklist, instantly displayed on screen. Pilots can follow clear procedures without searching through menus, which enables fast and structured responses.
Next-generation touchscreens
Three bezel-less 14-inch displays provide expanded viewing, exceptional clarity and smooth multi-touch interaction. In turbulent conditions, pilots can stabilize their hands on a display without the worry of unintended button presses.
App-inspired navigation
The G3000 PRIME avionics interface takes its design cues from smartphones: a home bar, back button, and up to five app spaces. This familiar logic reduces cognitive load and speeds up access to essential functions.
Instant access to key functions
The SDU tactile display screen provides direct access to such critical functions as radio communications, transponder and procedures. No need to sort through menus: everything is right at the pilot’s fingertips for maximum in-flight efficiency.
Optimized control
The GCU 315 cursor controller combines a knob, joystick and physical buttons for precise interaction – even in turbulence. It enables selection, zooming and navigation without touching the screen, adapting to pilot preferences.
Flight phase presets
The system allows screen layouts to be customized for each phase of flight: taxi, climb, cruise and approach. With a single tap, pilots can adapt their visual environment to match operational needs.
In-flight connectivity
Connectivity is provided with a comprehensive suite of subscription-based digital services, and the aircraft is pre-configured with a dedicated Starlink Mini mounting support and 100-watt USB-C power connection.
HomeSafe™: Ultimate safety, fully automated
If the pilot becomes incapacitated, HomeSafe™ takes over. The fully automated emergency landing system guides the aircraft to the most suitable airport by performing the descent, managing communications and executing the landing – all autonomously. This cutting-edge technology is ready to protect lives in the most critical situations.
Safety from taxi and takeoff to landing
The TBM 980 incorporates Daher’s e-copilot® concentration of technological innovation and safety systems. From advanced weather detection, icing protection and flight envelope monitoring to the emergency descent mode, each technology works in synergy to enhance awareness, reduce workload and ensure a smooth, secure flight
Alert-linked interactive checklist
This new system automatically links each alert to its corresponding checklist, enabling pilots to respond faster and more confidently in all situations.
Advanced Doppler weather radar
The GWX™ 8000 all-digital radar has excellent range and performance with precision target imaging. Its StormOptix technology automatically adjusts radar settings for more accurate 3D profiling of storm cells.
Daher’s smart automation
Pilots are assisted for greater safety and smoother operations with flight envelope protection features that include ESP/USP (Electronic Stability and Protection/Under-speed Protection), along with an AOA (Angle of Attack) indicator, stick shaker and VNAV/Glideslope transition.
Smart airport environment monitoring
Surface Watch™ alerts the pilot to runway incursions and runway risks for enhanced safety while on the ground.
Icing protection system
The system automatically detects and removes ice, ensuring safety in challenging flight conditions.
Level button and emergency descent mode
A single button stabilizes the aircraft and initiates an automatic emergency descent when required.
Refined power, optimized efficiency
The TBM 980 retains the propulsion excellence of Daher’s best-selling TBM 960 aircraft. Its Pratt & Whitney PT6E-66XT intelligent turboprop engine is paired with a five-blade Hartzell composite propeller to deliver smooth, responsive and quiet propulsion. This proven combination ensures outstanding performance, optimized fuel efficiency and uncompromising reliability throughout every phase of flight.
