Daher launches “Elite Privacy” TBM cabin configuration with lavatory enclosure for enhanced passenger well-being

Oshkosh, Wisconsin, July 26, 2016 – Daher today announced a major new enhancement for its TBM very fast turboprop, offering the quick-change option of a lavatory compartment to be available for new-production aircraft from 2017.

Unveiled at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in, the “Elite Privacy” configuration integrates a lavatory area in the TBM’s aft fuselage. It serves as a bench-type seat with a low divider wall when not in use during flight, and converts to a fully private toilet compartment at the simple touch of a button.

Two electric motors drive a deployable multi-segment partition with an anti-lock door to ensure privacy, and the compartment includes a large courtesy mirror that illuminates automatically.

Built using lightweight, resistant composite materials and cabin soundproofing, the “Elite Privacy” compartment weighs only 90 lb. (45 kg.), and can be installed/removed by a mechanic in 30 minutes – converting the TBM cabin’s standard six-seat layout to a four-passenger configuration.

“This latest evolution offers our operators a private, fully functional toilet compartment, which will be appreciated by pilot/owners who use the TBM’s long-range capabilities, and by the increasing number of charter operators that are performing commercial flights with the aircraft,” explained Nicolas Chabbert, Senior Vice President of the Daher Airplane Business Unit.

Chabbert said the TBM Elite Privacy arrangement results from a year-plus-long project involving the Daher Airplane Business Unit’s engineering and style design teams. “It is an excellent demonstration of Daher’s commitment to continue evolving the TBM family in response to our customers’ operational requirements.”

The Elite Privacy installation’s 29-inch-long (738-mm) bench seat section is aligned along the aft fuselage’s right wall. When not being used in the lavatory configuration, its compact design enables easy passenger circulation from the forward seats to the rear luggage zone.

To ensure style continuity within the cabin, Elite Privacy installations will match the customers’ interior color selection, with its leather finish complemented by stitching and carbon trim for the bottom fittings. The closure’s door is made of ultra-lightweight carbon fiber, and an area carpet tailored for the compartment’s use as a lavatory also is provided.

About Daher TBM aircraftwww.tbm.aero

The TBM 900 and TBM 930 are the newest members of Daher’s TBM business turboprop aircraft family. They offer performance close to that of light business jets – maximum cruise speed of 330 knots (611 km./hr.) – by offering a maximum range of 1,730 naut. mi. (3,200 km.), and provide greater flexibility with their load-carrying capacity and the ability operate from small airports.

With handling qualities and procedures typical of entry-level business aircraft, the TBM 900 and TBM 930 enable pilot-owners to be able to operate the aircraft themselves, while being adapted to the needs of midsize companies that appreciate their range, speed, passenger-carrying capability, along with low operating costs and discretion at airports.

Another TBM 900/TBM 930 advantage is the capability to operate from mountain airports, retaining performance even in hot weather conditions. The aircraft need only 1,200 meters to take off and land at an airfield altitude of 8,000 ft. (such as Mexico City) – even with a temperature of ISA + 30 °C.

To date, Daher has booked a total of 145 orders for the TBM 900/930 since this version’s launch in 2014, with 124 aircraft delivered as July 15, 2016.

Daher builds the TBM 900 and TBM 930 on the company’s final assembly line at its industrial site located on the Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport in France’s Hautes Pyrénées region.
